Chapter 3 of The Finders

After Barbara Sylvester’s tragic death, Finders members started to have children within the network. There were at least seven known children of Finders members.

The Finders children, their supposed parents, and their supposed age during the 1987 Tallahassee incident:[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

·        Max Livingstone (M, 6) / Mother: Patricia Livingstone, Father: Stanley Burns

·        “Benjamin Franklin” Benjamin Gaylon Knauth (M, 4) / Mother: Kristin Knauth, Father: Allan Schoen

·        “John Paul Pope” James M Holwell Jr. (M, 2) / Mother: Paula Marie Arico, Father: James M Holwell

·        HoneyBee Evans (F, 3) / Mother: Judy Evans, Father: Thomas Van Deusen

·        B. B. Said (M, 3) / Mother: Carolyn Said, Father: “Jeffrey Vbose”

·        “Mary Errico Houlihan” Jordan Messina Arico (F, 6) / Mother: Paula Marie Arico, Father: James Michael Holwell (adopted father according to Tobe Terrell, biological father was supposedly someone named “Martin”).

·        Walker Winn (M, 2) / Mother: Jan Shapiro, Father: Randolph Winn

The Finders had unconventional and sometimes disturbing beliefs about raising children within their network, which some may argue as neglect or even abuse. According to Tobe Terrell, Marion Pettie told The Finders that people needed to start treating their children differently to create real change in the world. Pettie believed that children should not know who their fathers are, stating that many of the world’s problems have been caused by knowing one's father, especially for boys who tend to imitate their fathers. Pettie further suggested that if the mother does not know or can “choose” the child’s father, they can assign a father to the child for their “best chance for survival.” An anonymous Finder male interview for the Washington Post stated that “that the child’s father of record might not be the actual biological father and that The Finders do not consider individual fatherhood to be a healthy concept.”[6] [7]
