Chapter 2 of The Finders Operation - K
Short Biographies of other Counterculture Influencers The Finders Operation Associated With: Edwin H. Elkin
How did the Finders Operation promote psychedelic drug culture for the United States Central Intelligence Agency and the Military Industrial Complex? Through people like Edwin Elkin. Edwin H. Elkin is an American psychotherapist (primarily Gestalt therapy, developed transpersonal Gestalt therapy), speaker, author, and New Ager. Ed was born into a Jewish family on May 6, 1936, in the Bronx, New York. Ed grew up in New York City. Ed renamed himself Jor-EL (Jor-El was the name of Superman’s father) A’dam Ra and claims to be a time traveler from the twenty-fourth century. Ed graduated from Tufts University with a Ph.D. in science in 1961 as an experimental/research psychologist. Ed was a Fulbright Scholar (United States Cultural Exchange Program founded by former Democrat United States Senator J. William Fulbright) in psychology at the Sorbonne (French college) in Paris, France. Ed self-published two books, Transformations: A Transformational Gestalt Primer in 1979 and a book of poetry, Eggstraordinary Eggs and other Poems of Fancy, of Despair, and of Hope, in 1990. Ed worked directly with Fritz Pearls, a German-born psychotherapist who pioneered Gestalt therapy and taught at the Esalen Institute.[1] [2] [3]
Ed Elkin knew American psychologist, psychadelic pusher, and United States Central Intelligence Agency operative Timothy Leary. Ed was a founding member of the Gestalt Institute of Washington D.C. Ed was vice president of what he calls the “Esalen Institute counterpart” in Washington D.C., which was the Quest Center of Human Growth. Ed’s job for the Quest Center of Human Growth was to discover the latest “personal growth tools” (drugs, exercises, modalities, etc.) used in the Human Potential Movement and bring that knowledge back to the think tank. Ed was a member of the Dennis Kucinich campaign for the United States presidency – Maui, Hawaii division during the early 2000s. Barbara Marx Hubbard worked directly with Dennis Kucinich, and she was one of Dennis’s mentors. Dennis also proposed United States Congressional legislation to form Barbara’s Department of Peace. Finally, Ed was a consultant to Barbara Marx Hubbard’s Committee for the Future and was a leading proponent of Barbara’s Conscious Evolution theory.[4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]
